This document will show you how to set a custom greeting on the main phone numbers for NJSL and TBBC, to alert callers to a closure or other situation.

Only certain staff have the ability to make these changes. If you do not have the Change greeting or closing message option on the Helpdesk screen and think you should, contact your supervisor.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Log into the Helpdesk at http://helpdesk.njstatelib.org/
  2. Select Change greeting or closing message from the list of options

  3. On the Change greeting or closing message screen:
Select the TBBC or NJSL auto attendant from the Auto attendant dropdown
Enter your greeting in the Greeting box exactly as you'd like callers to hear it
Select a start date/time in the Start custom greeting on field
Optionally select an end date/time in the Return to normal greeting on field
    Click Create

  4. You'll receive an email confirming your change request. Hang on to this email in case you want to cancel the change or end it early.
  5. At the date and time you entered in the Start custom greeting on field, the greeting will be automatically changed to the message you entered. It takes up to 5 minutes to complete the change.

If you want to cancel the greeting change or end it early, click the View request link in your confirmation email. You'll be taken to the Helpdesk where you can stop the custom greeting by clicking the Cancel change or Revert change links.
